Personal note from IAT Secretary (Theresa from Mass)
I want to thank all of you who took the time to send a note to Marcelle as she stepped down from the role of President of IAT, everything you sent was passed on to Sandy and she compiled it into a nice scrap book for Marcelle and I know she was deeply touched by all of your stories and sentiments and the book will be a wonderful keepsake for years to come..... Marcelle may have moved on, but she is still part of our IAT family as are you all and I just want to remind you, to continue to visit out website, Sandy does such a good job of keep up with all the info we send her and she continues to have all information current .... I know many of you send me JD info daily, and I will continue to pass on the information to JD friends and to Sandy to be posted on the website when needed. Sandy really has her hands full keeping up the revisions on the page, it is time consuming, and I am here as secretary, but with Marcelle onto her new venture, we are looking for someone to take over her title, come on now, don't be shy. Just let sandy or me know if you are interested, it really is a great position. Let me see, the qualifications.... When Sandy, Marcelle and I decided to start IAT, I believe we all had the same goal in mind, it was to keep John's Memory Alive, and we thought by keeping involved in his charities that he so much supported we could do that. Now, over the last year and a half we have not raised any where close to the amount of money that John contributed to these charities, and we may never do so, but, we were doing our part, we are all doing our part and that is what makes it work, as little as a part it is, all of us make IAT and you all know our work has not gone unrecognized so let's continue as we have, JD Friends, JD Family that we are. Therefore, anyone one of you qualify for the job, so step right up ......
On a personal note, we went to a dinner Saturday Night, it was to see a group of impersonators, the first guy came out and pretended to be Neil Diamond, and then Englebert Humperdink, the next buy was Buddy Holly and Bobby Darrin, and they were good, we were at a table of ten people and a friend turned to me and said, gee do you think they will sing a John Denver song ? But you know they said it kind of because they know I like JD and kind of to raz me, ya know After the performance was over, I went over to meet the guys who sang, all I said was Hi, my name is Theresa, I enjoyed your show and where will you play in the future and they gave me a list of upcoming performances and this one guy, (cute) he put his hand on my back and patted it and said glad you enjoyed the show. I left and went to my table and my sister was there, she asked me what did you say to them and I told her , just that they were great, and the cute one acknowledge me. About 15 minutes later, the cute one came out on stage again and he said ladies and gentlemen, you have been so good, we are going to sing some more and then he said, speaking of late and greats, here is a song from a late and great person I will miss ....And he sang Country Roads, I jumped out of my seat, started swaying and raising my arms and clapping , I couldn't believe and everyone just looked at me and said hey, you told them to sing this and I just looked and said not me I chalk it up to this, John has a way of letting us know he is with us, all the time
That's why it's about time (IAT) we let him know, we are always thinking of him and continue to do the work we can do here
My Heart to Yours, Theresa

A Word from Our Reps:
From Marcelle in Mass: Hello everyone, The IAT April newsletter will be the last one from me. It was a difficult decision, but I have decided to step down as president of IAT. Running an organization such as this requires a great deal of time and energy. With the changes in my life currently and what I am about to face, I cannot commit myself to it as I have in the past. Aside from my divorce, which will finally happen in a trial this summer, I am also about to be laid off from my job. My company was taken over and will be relocating my department to NY, a move that I can't do. I can't afford to live in that area and I can't take my children away from our home where they finally have a sense of security. So I have no choice but to be laid off. So I figure since I will be changing so many things, I might as well go for it all! I'll be going back to school for computers. The program I will be entering in fall will be very intensive, thus there will be little time for anything besides school and of course my girls. I will not be walking away completely - have no fear. I will continue to support Sandy, Theresa (really, I swear she does exist!), and whoever will replace me as president. I will continue working on the cookbook project and to collect any donations for Habitats for Humanity. I also want to have a say in who replaces me as I want to make sure it remains an organization that I can be proud of. I have made many close friendships through IAT and I hope that those friendships remain strong even though I am no longer "the leader". And for those ladies in the group that are also a part of Netsisters and LOTH, you'll still me me around as I support those organizations wholeheartedly. (Sorry guys - those are ladies only!) The one thing that I ask of you is to be sure that you keep John Denver's vision alive. Be sure to keep on doing your small part in your little corner of the world. I promise I will be doing my part - just a much smaller part than in the past. Peace and love, Marcelle / Marce
From Evelyn Pinney in CO: The Littleton Rotary has produced a memorial photo for the victims of Columbine high school - it is a picture of a columbine flower growing from a rock, with the title "The Flower That Shattered the Stone". The photo was taken by John Fielder. Copies of the photo may be ordered by sending $10 to the
or by calling (303) 935-0900. Monies raised will go to the injured students' families. Peace. Evelyn

Misc:
From Karen in Colorado: We received the Title papers for High Wind Ranch on Saturday.. Hopefully closing on May 14th. It is being purchased by a private Company called "Box Elder Holdings" it will be an intentional art community...with 6 permanent residents, who will facilitate workshops and the running of the ranch. It will be open to the public in the summer of 2000. People will be able to visit the ranch ( and help if they wish to) while it's under construction if they contact us first.
We are in the process of applying for "nonprofit" status... We will be returning all the donations that we have received with an update on the purchase and information on when to resubmit contributions, if people still want to: AFTER...we have legal nonprofit status. Our finacial manager, who worked at Windstar for years has advised us to keep all $ matters very clean and simple and totally legal.. No checks have been cashed or donated monies spent. We got the cart before the horse...but both are running well. Contributors will be on a priority mailing list and we plan to do all the wonderful things mentioned on the WEB SITE and quite a few more.
Thanks for you interest and support...watch for the return of your check in a week or two. It has helped keep the dream alive. Karen D'Attilo ... High Wind Ranch

From Theresa in Mass: New VCR Setting for 2000: Here is something I bet you hadn't thought would be an issue for Y2K. You won't be able to use the programmed recording feature on your VCR! Don't throw away your VCR in the year 2000. Set it on 1972 because the days will be the same. Please pass this on because you know the manufacturer will not share this information. They will want you to buy a new one that is Y2K compliant."

Poem of the month: (submitted by Theresa in Mass)
Often times, the things we seek are right underneath our noses. Don't miss out on your blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.
***************************************************************************
In closing, I hope you all will consider the future of IAT. We have a good thing here and need a strong leader. Marcelle did a wonderful job, but now it is someone elseıs turn to take that baton and run with it. If the Presidency is too much to handle, at least consider taking over the newsletter. Though I enjoy doing as much as I can to keep John Denverıs memory alive, I cannot do it all. Compiling the newsletter and continuing the web site takes up much more of my time than I can share. I volunteered (or got volunteered...LOL!) to do the May Newsletter, but we need someone else to compile the future newsletters. As a great man we all loved once said, ³If not me, then who?² How about YOU?
Peace to you all, Sandy
"Itıs about time we start to live it, the family of man."
