If I Could

by George Spendley

If I could take away this pain you feel
then know I surely would.
I'd like to make you smile again
to see the love I should.

If I could mend all broken hearts
and make them laugh once more,
then know I'd start with my own heart,
and then I would mend yours.

If I could share all happiness
that hides within us all,
I would open up my arms for you
and catch you when you fall.

If I could reach the stars and moon,
and give them all to you,
I'd gather each and every one
and make your dreams come true.

If I could turn the hands of time
and fill your vacant soul,
I'd give you back each day since then
when all our hearts were whole.
