Morning Has Broken
words and music by Paul Swanton (a.k.a. RkyMtnHi7)
A note from Paul: "The saddest song I've ever written, "Morning
Has Broken" was also from one my dreams. A guy wakes up and discovers
that the woman whom he had planned on making his wife and who had meant
everything to him had decided to abandon the relationship and move on.
In his loneliness and despair, he commits himself to end it all (suicide),
and his friend is left to express his final feelings to the woman... "
Morning has broken, another day begins,
The sun peeks through the horizon trees, as waking bluebirds
sing.
He rose to greet the fresh'ning air, blown through the open
door,
And smiling, he remembers dreams from last night and before.
Dreams of hope and dreams of care, but mostly dreams of you
Not knowing why, he'd realize, they never would come true.
To be with you, to share with you, he wanted most in life;
For you to be more than a dream, for you to be his wife.
Tomorrow is another day, a day of clouds and rain;
It's here he must now lift his soul, and free his heart of
pain.
His eyes have mourned a thousand years to be here and belong
The scourged shell of a broken man was left to carry on.
Remembering, he spoke of you, of how you'd laugh and cry
Tears of joy ran down his face, his spirit lifted high.
With no one here to rid his fear of losing you again,
The question that he left with me was "how it might've been..."
