Times Like These Should Last Forever

words and music by Paul Swanton (a.k.a. RkyMtnHi7)

A note from Paul: '"Times Like These" was written for a female friend from days long ago... We shared many long walks along the beach at night, with the stars (those "candle eyes") watching over us. I never did ask her out... too damn shy and afraid to hear the word 'no'. Oh, what a fool I was... '

I remember times we've shared, and days we've spent apart;
Lost embraces I have missed, but kept you in my heart.
To let you go again this time would draw and drain my eyes,
But not to ask, and face the loss, a greater fool am I.

Here we are alone again with no one here to see
If I could only tell you so how much you mean to me;
If I had only one wish in life, this is what I'd choose,
For eternity to freeze in time, and spend it all with you.

Times like these should last forever, o how I wish they could;
Just you and I alone together, when love commands, they would;
they surely would...

Windy walks on weathered sands, and having you so near
Darkened skies with candle eyes had watched us holding there
The moment's joy surrounded me, the love I feel for you...
With all these things you have from me, I'd give you my life too.

Times like these should last forever, o how I wish they could;
Just you and I alone together, when love commands, they would;
they surely would...
